There are six levels of achievement offered by the Oregon City Swim Team, along with a Masters.
| PRE-COMP | Swimmers in this group need to be able to swim a 25 freestyle and 25 backstroke (1 length of each). These athletes learn what it means to be on a team, and learn all four competitive strokes. These swimmers are expected to pay attention, and give their best. Practices emphasize technique and are three days a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for 45 minutes. |
| RED GROUP | Red group swimmers spend most of their time working on refining stroke mechanics. These swimmers know all the strokes and while much of the work is technique based they will begin to be introduced to training principles. The expectations for this group are for the swimmers to pay attention and give their best. Practices are five days a week and range from 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on the season. A five minute mini-dryland session is often a part of the practice. |
| WHITE GROUP | White group swimmers are continuing to work on stroke mechanics, however, a solid amount of practice is devoted to some training aspects. These swimmers will begin to learn more advanced training skills, like remembering times, checking their heart rate, counting strokes, and following the pace clock. These swimmers are expected to work hard, and give their best. Practices are six days a week and range from 1 hour to 1 ½ hours and include a ten minute dryland as a part of the practice. |
| BLUE GROUP | Blue group swimmers demonstrate good swimming skills. At this level swimmers begin to spend more time on training sets and building endurance, while still emphasizing technique. Most of the swimmers in the Blue group are 10 – 13 years old and are expected to work hard, pay attention, and regularly attend practice. Practices are six days a week and range from an hour and fifteen minutes to an hour and a half and have a ten minute dry-land. |
| SILVER GROUP | Silver group swimmers have shown a commitment to swimming and are well versed in technique and strategy. Swimmers in this group are generally 12 – 14 years old and are expected to set goals, demonstrate self discipline, and regularly attend practice. Practices are six days a week and range from an hour and a half to two hours with a daily fifteen minute dry-land. |
| GOLD GROUP | Gold group swimmers demonstrate excellent swimming ability and work capacity. These swimmers are generally 14 years old to collegiate age and are expected to be mature, responsible, and make an exceptional commitment to swimming by showing up to an average of 95% of practices. Practices are six days a week with up to three mornings a week. |
| MASTERS | Masters Swimming provides organized workouts and competitions for adults aged 18 and over. Programs are open to all adult swimmers (fitness, triathlete, competitive, non-competitive) who are dedicated to improving their fitness through swimming. |
