There are six levels of achievement offered by the Oregon City Swim Team along with a High School Maintenance Group.

PRE-COMP

Swim team lessons three times a week introduces kids to the four competitive strokes along with having fun! Registration is done through the Oregon City Pool but Oregon City Swim Team coaching staff teaches the lessons.

RED GROUP

Red Group is designed to start young swimmers into the sport of swimming while allowing opportunity to participate in other activities. Emphasis is on teaching the fundamentals of all four competitive strokes by means of drills and games making it fun for the kids to learn. Schedule: three to five one-hour workouts a week. Swim meets are optional for this group.

WHITE GROUP

White group is for swimmers who can legally perform the four competitive strokes and are ready to learn more advanced stroke techniques. The majority of time is spent working on refining stroke mechanics. White group swimmers swim Monday through Friday for one hour each day. Swimmers are encouraged to participate in swim meets at this point and begin to see the rewards of their efforts.

BLUE GROUP

These swimmer have mastered all four competitive strokes. Emphasis is still on stroke technique with preparation for the 200 IM and 500 free, Blue group swimmers start competitive training and begin to learn how to train. Practices consist of five days a week where workouts range from one to one and a half hours per day along with dry land and Saturday practices.

SILVER GROUP


Silver Group are well-versed in technique and strategy. They are also a full-fledged training group. Most of the swimmers in the Elite Prep group are between the ages of 12-15 years old. There is a moderate level of specialization of strokes and events in practice and meets; however, the training centers on preparation for the 400 IM and the distance freestyle events. Workouts for the Elite Prep are offered six days a week and mornings are introduced. Fins and paddles are required for workouts.


ELITE GROUP

The Elite team consists of the High School swimmers and some other swimmers that exhibit a high level of swimming and workout ability. These swimmers are expected to be mature, dedicated, responsible, and dependable. As our more advanced swimmers increase their commitment to swimming, we insist that they maintain good academic standing. The training still centers around distance freestyle and 400 IM but stroke specialization make up part of the workouts. Elite swimmers practice mornings, afternoons and Saturdays. Fins and paddles are required for workouts.
